Where did we come from?

Starting on the back patio of one of the founding directors homes in 2012, Care Chiropractic Queensland (CCQ) was the place to be for outdoor chiropractic.

As summer started to ease, we looked for a mozzie free, air conditioned location and a fantastic spot was found on Walsh street in Mareeba.

Since its humble beginnings, CCQ expanded into the communities of Malanda, Atherton, Mareeba, Cairns and Innisfail.

What is our mission

CCQ provides the highest quality chiropractic care, creating vibrant families within our communities.

What is our Vision?

To create a healing space where our clients can reach a state of coherence that elevates not just the individuals health but also their families and wider community.

Our style of practice is renowned for being gentle and highly effective.

What do we do?

At CCQ, we tailor our techniques to the individual and will make our recommendations based each person’s unique lifestyle patterns.

This ensures that the care provided is effective, comfortable and individualised.

Our Team

Dr Matt Jacob

BSc (Neuro) BChiro ICCSP

Chiropractor/Director

Originally from the Tablelands, Dr Matt returned home in 2012 to start Care Chiropractic Queensland along with his childhood chiropractor, Jim Ainsley. Matt has completed degrees in both Science (University of Queensland) and Chiropractic (New Zealand College of Chiropractic) along with additional post graduate qualifications to become an internationally certified chiropractic sport science practitioner.

With a history in competitive swimming, athletics, sailing and triathlon, Matt loves finding out what drives people to push themselves and perform at their best. Certified in Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT), Matt blends lower force techniques with structural based adjustments to ensure his care is comfortable and effective. He is based in both Mareeba and Cairns.

Outside of the practices, Matt can be found swimming in any body of water he can find or pretending to know what he’s doing with power tools as he attempts to fix things around the house. A keen gardener, Matt loves digging in the dirt and learning about plants.

Dr Juliana Kiesewetter

She believes in giving people strength to look after their health and perform at their best, empowering the Mareeba community towards better health.

She continues to attend post-graduate seminars to constantly build her knowledge. In her spare time, Juliana enjoys training for Triathlons, spending time in nature, going on overseas adventures as well as learning everything she can about living well and thriving.

Dr Darren Honey

BExPhys MChiro

Chiropractor

Dr Darren is a home grown FNQ local and is excited to back in the area again. Darrens university education includes a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology from the University of New South Wales, and a Masters of Chiropractic from Macquarie University. After graduating from chiropractic, he volunteered in a spine care clinic in Botswana, Africa where he encountered a wide variety of health conditions in people from all walks of life.

Darren is impassioned and enthusiastic about both providing care and educating his clients to have a proactive role in handling their health concerns.

Darren uses a variety of chiropractic techniques that may be applied with his hands or with the use of an instrument or specialized table.

Prior to embarking on his chiropractic career, Darren was a remedial massage therapist for 16 years. In this time he also undertook yoga teacher training in Ashtanga and the Knoff system, and taught both styles for 10 years.

When Darren is not in the practice he enjoys exploring the great outdoors, and has a particular interest in hiking. He considers regular exercise to be an integral part of a well-balanced life and if this can be incorporated into daily activities, even better.

Rachael Pasieka

Chiropractic Assistant

Born and bred in Mareeba, Rachael loves her life up on the tablelands. After joining the CCQ team relatively recently in 2020, Rachael has quickly become a familiar friendly face in our Mareeba practice. She is also an artist so loves drawing and playing her ukulele.

When she’s not at the practice, Rachael can often be found in a nursery, looking for her next plant or going on nature walks.

Sonia Ragusa

Head Chiropractic Assistant

Sonia grew up in little Italy, AKA Mareeba, with immigrant parents. She started working at CCQ in 2016, which was great because she already knew a large portion of the CCQ cliental.

Sonia enjoys going to the Mareeba markets and the Wellness Hub to do her Tarot card readings.
When you don’t see her at CCQ, Sonia can be found pottering around her garden, swimming, spending time with family or watching T.V/Movies.

Cleo Dietrich

Marketing Assistant

Cleo has been part of the team since 2013, when she started as a chiropractic assistant at the McLeod St practice, in Cairns. As her family grew, she transitioned to a Marketing Assistant where she draws upon years of experience in the corporate world with a design and retail group. Cleo is the mastermind behind weaving our various stories into the practice newsletters.
